Main Shut-off Valves

MAIN SHUT-OFF VALVES
Manually operated main gas shut-off valves are used as part of a gas appliance for turning the main gas burner on and off. Typically, they are turned on when an appliance is put into service and turned off to shut the appliance down. All of these valves operate with a ¼ turn of the handle from fully open to fully closed. Port configurations are available for pipe and tubing in sizes from 1/8" up to 1.25". Operating pressures range from 0.5 to 2.0 psig. Some models offer side ports, providing convenient access to check line pressure or to run a pilot line. Operating temperatures range from 32°F (0°C) to 350°F (176°C). Most models are design-certified by Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for use in the U.S. and Canada.

Fireplace Valves

FIREPLACE VALVES
Manually operated fireplace valves are used for artificial gas log sets to control the flow of gas to the burner(s). The valves are specially configured to accept a square key handle for ¼ turn operation from fully open to fully closed. The decorative square stock key handle is treated with a black oxide finish for corrosion protection and can be cut to any length. The ductile iron construction of the valve body gives exceptional performance and durability. These valves are designed to operate at a maximum pressure of 0.5 psig and at a maximum operating temperature of 350°F (176°C). Maximum flow rate is 272,000 BTU/Hr of natural gas at a pressure drop of 1" water column. Most models are design-certified by Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for use in the U.S. and Canada.

Throttling Shut-Off Valves

THROTTLING SHUT-OFF VALVES
Manually operated throttling shut-off valves combine the features of a main gas shutoff valve with that of an adjustable orifice. In the closed position, the valve shuts off all gas flow. In the open position, the flow rate of gas can be adjusted or "fine tuned" from full flow down to almost no flow for each application. To adjust the flow rate, the cap on top of the valve plug is removed and the position of the internal throttle is adjusted with a screwdriver. After the adjustment is complete, the cap is then replaced. The throttle has an anti-rotation feature that prevents inadvertent movement of the throttle after it has been adjusted. Maximum operating pressures range from 0.5 psig to 1.0 psig. Operating temperatures range from 32°F (0°C) to 350°F (176°C). Most models are design-certified by Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for use in the U.S. and Canada.

Wok Range Valves

WOK RANGE VALVES
Manually operated wok range valves are used to regulate the flow of gas to burners in commercial ranges specifically designed to accommodate Chinese woks. Ductile iron and steel give these valves a rugged construction, built to withstand the demanding environment of commercial kitchens. An extra long valve handle enables the chef to modulate the gas valve with his knee while keeping both hands free for cooking. The valves are available in 3/8" and ½" pipe sizes and capacities are 90,000 and 272,000 BTU/hr, respectively, when using natural gas. These valves have a maximum operating pressure of 0.5 psig and at a maximum operating temperature of 350°F (176°C). All models are design-certified Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and have been designated to be suitable for commercial cooking equipment and carry the Delta C (Delta C) marking.

Factory Mutual Safety Cocks

FACTORY MUTUAL SAFETY COCKS
FM safety cocks provide a positive method of preventing fuel explosions in multi-burner gas-fired industrial furnaces, ovens, dryers and boilers. The types of explosions prevented are those that can arise if a burner cock is accidentally left open when the main gas supply is turned on and there is a delay in applying the lighting torch. Such a delay would permit an explosive gas-air mixture to form that would be ignited upon application of the torch.

The incorporation of two additional side ports provides an independent passageway that is open only after the main gas passage is completely closed. When used in a multi-burner gas safety control system, the side ports are connected in series with copper tubing to adjacent cocks, so that when the gas passages of all cocks are closed, a new continuous passageway is provided through all the closed cocks. A pressure switch can then be used to sense when all the gas cocks are closed.

The Key Gas Components’ FM safety cock provides the additional feature of a throttling shut-off valve and allows the user to adjust the maximum flow of gas from full flow down to almost no flow. Port size is 3/8" pipe inlet with ¼" tubing side port connections. Maximum operating pressure is 1 psig.

Union Shut-Off Valves
Union Shut-Off Valves

UNION SHUT-OFF VALVES
Manually operated union shut-off valves have essentially the same construction as main shut-off valves but have been modified to provide a union at the outlet side of the valve. The union allows a user to break the gas line at the outlet of the valve without having to break additional connections upstream. Valves are available in both straight-thru and 90° angled configurations. Maximum operating temperature is 350°F (176°C). Maximum operating pressure is 1 psig. All models are design-certified by Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for use in the U.S. and Canada.

Appliance Connector Valves

APPLIANCE CONNECTOR VALVES
Manually operated appliance connector valves are intended to be used between the gas supply piping and the appliance connector attached to the appliance. The valves have a non-displaceable rotor (rotating valve member), an internal taper pipe inlet and an outlet for a flared tubing connection. Maximum operating pressure is 0.5 psig. Operating temperatures range from 32°F (0°C) to 350°F (176°C). Most models are design-certified by Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for use in the U.S. and Canada.

Gas Orifices
Gas Orifice Holders

GAS ORIFICES
Precision metering devices for limiting the flow of gas to a burner in ovens, ranges, heaters and other gas appliances. Orifices are available in a myriad of sizes and styles for all major brands or to your specifications.

GAS FITTINGS
Fittings specifically designed to connect a gas orifice to the gas supply. Many models provide a means to modulate the gas flow rate by providing relative motion between the gas orifice and a needle. Bulkhead mounting is also available.

Over the years, Key Gas Components has developed an extensive offering of "standard" orifice holders for service on most major brand names. In addition, we continue to offer custom holders for one-of-a-kind applications.

Pilot Gas Filters

PILOT GAS FILTERS
Designed to remove contaminants in the gas line and increase the life expectancy of a pilot burner by a factor of 300 to 1 (as defined by the Life Ratio in American National Standard / Canadian Gas Association Standard for Pilot Gas Filters, ANSI Z21.35, CGA 6.8-M95). Filters are available in fixed and variable outlets as well as single and double outlets. All models are design-certified by Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for use in the U.S. and Canada.

Pilot Adjusting Valves

PILOT ADJUSTING VALVES
Manually operated pilot adjustment valves are used to adjust the flame height on pilot burners or other devices requiring a small BTU/hr input rating. The flow rate is adjustable from full flow to no flow by rotating the throttle with a screwdriver. Inlet ports are all 1/8 MNPT (male pipe) and outlets are available in 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 tube connections. Configurations include:

  1. Single outlet, straight through design
  2. Single outlet, 90° elbow design
  3. Dual outlet, straight through design

Maximum operating pressure is 0.5 psig. Operating temperature range is 32°F (0°C) to 350°F (176°C). All models are design-certified by Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for use in the U.S. and Canada.

Pilot Shut-Off Valves

PILOT SHUT-OFF VALVES
Manually operated pilot shut-off valves are used to shut-off the gas supply to pilots or other low BTU burners. All of these valves operate with a 1/4 turn of the handle from fully open to fully closed. Some models provide an adjustment to throttle the amount of gas that passes in the open position. To adjust the flow rate, the cap on top of the valve plug is removed and the position of the internal throttle is adjusted with a screwdriver. After the adjustment is complete, the cap is then replaced. Port configurations are available in 1/8 pipe and 1/4" tube. Maximum operating pressure is 0.5 psig. Operating temperature range is from 32°FF (0°FC) to 300°FF (149°FC). All models are design-certified by Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for use in the U.S. and Canada.

Flash Tube/Open Top Lighters

FLASH TUBE / OPEN TOP LIGHTERS
A standing pilot system that allows the use of one pilot flame to ignite multiple burners on a gas range. A combination of a flash tube, baffle tube and igniter jet are used to carry the flame from a centrally located standing pilot to nearby open top burners.

LIGHTER HARNESSES
Custom tube assemblies terminating in a lighter tip designed to support a standing pilot. Configured with either single or multiple pilots for a given inlet connection, lighter harnesses provide the user with a convenient way to distribute standing pilots throughout an appliance. Made from aluminum, these devices provide long life and excellent resistance to corrosion. Gas filters can be added on some models to keep out contaminants and prolong pilot burner life. A pilot adjustment feature that allows the user to adjust the height of the pilot flame can be added for further operational convenience.

PILOT BURNERS
Available in many different styles, pilot burners are used to ignite larger burners with the use of a standing pilot flame. Some configurations use pure gas for the pilot flame while others use a gas-air mixture to achieve a cleaner-burning, blue flame. The latter models incorporate an orifice jet that induces air flow into the gas flow prior to reaching the burner tip. Other models incorporate a pilot adjusting device to regulate the height of the pilot flame at the burner tip.

Custom Gas Manifolds

CUSTOM GAS MANIFOLDS
Manufactured to customer specification, Key Gas Components has developed many special processes to fabricate gas manifolds to exacting tolerances in a cost-effective manner. A special forming process is used to part and seal tubing or pipe in one operation. A special thermal drilling process extrudes holes through the tubing wall, extending the amount of material available for tapping. This allows us to achieve a higher quality pipe thread port that exceeds CSA requirements. Robotic and other automated welding operations ensure consistently high-quality joining operations. As a final safety check, all gas manifold assemblies are 100% inspected for leakage prior to shipment.
